Sangbad is a Bangla news portal WordPress theme for online newspapers, regional portals and magazines. It is Bangla from the ground up, from the menus and dates to its own News Dashboard. Activation does the groundwork. Sangbad creates 39 categories, from national news, politics and the eight divisions to opinion, jobs, campus, climate and expat news, plus 13 default pages and 3 menus. Anything you already have is kept. The pages cover what a newsroom uses every day: Latest, Archive, Converter, District News, Photo Gallery, Video Gallery, Account, Contact, About Us, Terms, Privacy Policy, Advertise and Career.

Headers and menus for desktop and mobile

Desktop and mobile get separate headers, because a news portal is read on phones just as much as on laptops. On a phone, categories scroll sideways under the logo, and the menu bar sticks to the top while readers scroll. The logo turns white on its own on the sticky blue bar. The header date shows the Bangla date together with the Bangabda calendar date and the Hijri date. An e-paper link can sit in the header as well. A side drawer menu works on every device. It shows the logo and today's date, a two-row grid of pages with icons, the category list with icons, and a login and sign-up line at the bottom.

A homepage built from 13 section layouts

The homepage opens with a lead story, four cards and a sidebar holding an ad and a Recent / Top 10 list. Below it come Latest, International, Opinion, Video, Countrywide with a district map, Business, Literature, Jobs, Entertainment, Sports and a Photo Gallery. In the News Dashboard you drag sections into a new order, switch them on or off, rename them and pick the category and layout for each. Three custom sections are there for extra categories of your own. Top 10 and Popular lists come from a built-in view counter, so the most-read stories rise on their own. No analytics plugin is needed for that.

Local news for all 64 districts

This Bangla news portal WordPress theme includes 8 divisions, 64 districts and 494 upazilas, all with Bangla names. Reporters tag each story by division, district and upazila from a box beside the post editor. Readers find local news through dropdowns or by clicking a division on the inline map of Bangladesh. The search page shows district news with the same map.

Writing and reading the news

Each story can carry a shoulder line, a subtitle, a reporter name and a YouTube video link. Leave the reporter field empty and the theme credits a digital report under your site name. Single news pages show the category, shoulder, headline, reporter, publish time, share buttons, the photo with its caption, tags, eight Read more links and a sticky sidebar. Category pages add sub-category chips, a lead story and a four-column grid with a Read more button that loads stories in place. The Converter page turns Bijoy text into Unicode and back, writes numbers in words or in taka, and converts dates to Bangabda or Hijri. Photo galleries and videos have their own menus in the dashboard.

Reader accounts

A Bangla login and registration popup lets readers sign up without leaving the page. On their account page they can change their name, email and password, and logged-in readers collect a daily visit credit with a bonus for visits in a row.

Run it all from the News Dashboard

Every setting of Sangbad lives in one News Dashboard inside the WordPress admin. The overview shows stats, a 7-day graph, a setup checklist, popular and recent news and quick actions. Other tabs cover logo and branding, five colours with live preview, heading and body fonts with text size, the header, homepage sections, news pages, a footer with four editorial lines, social media, contact details and the login system. Eight ad slots take either an image with a link or ad code such as AdSense, and you choose the devices for each one. Tools import or remove demo content, export and import settings, create missing pages and menus, and reset. Five Bangla fonts are bundled inside the theme: Noto Serif Bengali, Tiro Bangla, Hind Siliguri, Noto Sans Bengali and Anek Bangla. Only the fonts you choose are loaded, and the scripts run without jQuery.

News Dashboard → Tools → Import Demo Content adds 117 news stories, 9 photo galleries, 7 videos, 16 images and sample ad banners. One click removes it again and leaves your own posts untouched.
