Barta Ghor (বার্তাঘর) is a complete news site script for a Bangla national daily, built with Laravel. It gives you a green newspaper homepage in the style of the big Bangla dailies, a breaking-news ticker, lead news, category blocks, country-wide news by district, video and photo pages, online polls, ad places on every page and a newsroom with Admin, Editor and Reporter accounts.

The public site is in Bangla from the first click: Bangla digits, Bangla dates with the Bangla calendar, and the SolaimanLipi font bundled inside the app, so no outside font server slows the page. The admin uses short, plain English labels that any desk editor understands.

It is a working newsroom, not only a design. Writing, editing, approval, publishing, ads, polls and the homepage layout are already built; you add your logo, categories and reporters.

A homepage that reads like a national daily

The header shows the date line, your logo and three featured stories beside it: one photo story, one video and one featured report. Below it runs a mint menu bar; hovering a section grows a green block with a thin red line, the way readers know from the large Bangla dailies. The Bangladesh menu opens politics, economy, capital and law, and the country menu opens all eight divisions.

A red breaking-news ticker runs under the menu. Then comes the lead story with four strong headlines and a grid of nine more, a picture-news box, and latest and popular tabs in the sidebar. A video band shows the newest video reports.

Category blocks

Three rows of three columns carry nine categories, each row with its own side list. A country-wide news block has a map and a division and district picker. Sports, entertainment and an eight-card lifestyle block follow, then the photo gallery, the poll and the archive search by date. You decide which category fills each block in Admin, Homepage.

Write, check and publish news

The news form has four short parts. First the shoulder line, the headline and a summary. Then the news text, with bold, italic, sub-headings, lists, quotes, links, pictures and YouTube buttons; pasted text from Word keeps only simple formatting, so the page stays clean.

Third come the main picture (drag and drop, at least 1200 by 675), the caption, an optional YouTube link that replaces the picture, and more pictures that turn the item into a photo story. Last, an optional title and description for Google and Facebook sharing.

Publishing tools

• Status and time: Draft, Waiting for an editor or Published; a future time schedules the news.
• Lead news: puts the story in the big spot at the top of the homepage.
• Picture news: sends it to the picture box.
• Breaking: adds a red mark in the ticker.
• Type: News, Video, Photo story or Opinion; videos and photo stories also appear on their own pages.
• Byline, district and upazila, tags: for credit, local news and related stories.

Preview opens the story on the site before you publish, so nothing goes live by mistake. In this news site script, categories build the menu by themselves, with sub-menus, order and an In menu switch, and any tag can be marked Trending.

Newsroom roles in the news site script

Every person signs in at one login page. Readers never need an account.

• Admin: everything, including ads, pages, users, settings and the licence.
• Editor: publishes all news and manages categories, tags, the homepage and polls.
• Reporter: writes news and sends it to the editor; a reporter cannot publish.

Each account has a designation, such as Staff Reporter or District Correspondent, that appears with the byline. The dashboard shows news counts, the Waiting for an editor list, the most read news of the week and recent changes. The admin also works on a phone, so a reporter in the field can file a story from a mobile browser.

Ads, polls and income

A news portal earns from ads, so this news site script has eight ad places: three wide homepage banners (after the top news, after sports and after lifestyle), two 300 by 250 sidebar boxes, and three places in each story: under the headline, after the text and inside the text after every four paragraphs.

The inline place repeats in long stories, so one ad fills every gap. Each ad can be a banner picture with a link or a code from an ad network such as Google AdSense, with optional start and end dates. Clicks are counted, so you can show a local advertiser real numbers.

Online polls ask readers a Yes, No or No comment question. Results appear with percentages in the admin, and you can turn the poll box on or off for the homepage at any time.

Readers, local news and search engines

Each story page shows the category path, headline, summary, byline and time, share buttons for Facebook, WhatsApp and X, copy link and print, then tags, related news and the next story. Readers can pick a division and district to read local news, open the video page or the photo gallery, browse authors and tags, and search the archive by date.

For Google, every story has its own title and description fields and structured data for news articles. The sitemap lives at /sitemap.xml and an RSS feed at /feed. Settings hold the homepage title and description and your Google Analytics ID. A news site script should help search engines read your stories clearly; it cannot promise rankings, which still depend on good, original reporting.

Light and quick

A heavy news site script loses readers on slow phones. Here, pages are rendered on the server with Laravel, the homepage blocks are cached, the font is served from your own domain and ad banners, story videos and photo-story pictures load only when the reader scrolls to them. That keeps the homepage quick on mobile data, which matters when most readers come from Facebook on a phone.

Install this news site script on cPanel

You do not need a terminal, Composer or Node. The zip already holds the vendor folder and the built CSS and JavaScript. Upload it with File Manager, extract it, point your domain to the public folder and open the site. The web installer opens by itself and takes you through seven short steps: welcome, server check, database, site name in Bangla and English, admin account, licence and the last choice.

That last step lets you install with or without demo content. With demo content you get sample Bangla news, photos, videos, photo stories, a poll and house ads, so every block is filled while you learn. Without it you get a clean site with only the menu categories and the About, Contact, Privacy and Terms pages, ready for your real paper.

MySQL 8 or MariaDB 10.6 is best for a busy portal; SQLite also works with no setup for a small site or a test. PHP 8.3 or newer is needed. An optional daily cron line runs the licence check.

Settings without code

Admin, Settings changes the logo and favicon, the site name in Bangla and English, the tagline, the editor and publisher lines, office address, phone and e-mail, the footer note, how many headlines run in the ticker, and the Facebook, YouTube, X, Instagram and LinkedIn links.

Licence and updates

One licence key works on one domain. Activate it in the installer or later in Admin, License; to move the site, remove the key on the old domain and activate it on the new one. Local test addresses work without a key, and the License page tells you when a new version is waiting.
