Nobokontho – Light, Phone-Friendly News Website PHP Script in Laravel

Nobokontho (নবকণ্ঠ) is a light, phone-first news website php script for young Bangla portals whose readers arrive from Facebook on mobile data. It is built with Laravel and has an orange and slate newspaper design: a big centred logo with the date and Bangla calendar beside it, white ruled sections with pictures that fill every block, a slim sticky menu bar on desktop and a simple white top bar on phones.

The tagline under the demo logo, "নতুন সময়ের কণ্ঠস্বর" (the voice of a new time), sums up the idea: a portal that looks fresh, opens quickly and still has a full newsroom, ad places and polls behind it.

A clean, phone-friendly design

On a computer the header has the menu and search buttons and the date on the left, the logo in the middle, and social icons with Latest and Archive links on the right. After scrolling, the menu row turns into a slim sticky bar with a small logo. On a phone a white bar keeps the logo, search and menu buttons, and the sections open in a drawer.

Top of the homepage

The lead story with its picture and summary sits beside four picture rows, with six smaller stories under it and latest and most read tabs on the right. A wide banner follows, so the first screen is almost all news.

Sections down the page

Five category sections, for example national, politics, sports, entertainment and lifestyle, each arrange a lead story, picture rows and cards in a different way. A magazine pair sets two sections side by side, and a numbered spotlight shows three stories on a dark fade. Opinion quote cards with writer photos sit beside the poll.

In Admin, Homepage you choose the category for each of the five sections, the magazine pair, the spotlight, opinion, both four-column rows and the district block. Nothing is fixed in code.

Story pages

Each story shows the section path, headline, summary, byline and time, share buttons for Facebook, WhatsApp and X, copy link and print, then tags, related news and the next story, with latest and most read tabs at the side.

Speed is the main promise of this design, and it comes from simple choices rather than tricks.

• Server-rendered pages with cached homepage blocks, so the phone receives finished HTML.

The newsroom

Three roles keep live coverage under control. Reporters write and send stories to Waiting for an editor. Editors publish every story and manage categories, tags, the homepage and polls. Admins also handle ads, pages, users, settings and the licence. Designations such as Live Desk or Campus Reporter appear with each byline.

Writing a story

The form starts with the shoulder line, headline and summary, then the text with sub-headings, lists, quotes, links, pictures and YouTube. Next come the main picture, caption, YouTube link and extra pictures for photo stories, then the Google and Facebook sharing fields.

The publish panel holds the status, a publish time for scheduled stories, the Lead news, Picture news and Breaking switches, the type (News, Video, Photo story, Opinion), byline, district, upazila and tags.

Scheduling and planning

Features, explainers and opinion pieces can be written in advance and given a publish time. They go live by themselves, so the homepage stays fresh in the quiet hours and the desk can focus on breaking news when it comes. With a script built this way, a small team covers more of the day.

Quick updates from a phone

The admin works in a phone browser. On a match day or an election night a reporter can file short updates from the field, the editor publishes them in seconds and each one appears at the top of the latest list. Breaking stories also get a red mark in the ticker.

Ads and polls in the news website php script

Twelve ad places give a young portal room to grow its income:

• A 728 by 90 banner next to the logo.
• A wide banner under the ticker and three small 308 by 90 banners under the top news.
• Wide banners after section 4 and section 8.
• Two 300 by 250 sidebar boxes.
• Under the headline, after the text and inside the text after every four paragraphs of each story.

Each ad is a banner with a link or a network code such as Google AdSense, with start and end dates and a click count. On phones the sidebar box beside the top news is hidden, so the wide banner after the lead block is the first ad a reader meets.

Polls ask a Yes, No or No comment question, a quick way to get readers involved during a big story. Results show with percentages in the admin.

Search, sharing and Bangla

Each story has its own Google title and description and structured data for news articles. A sitemap at /sitemap.xml and an RSS feed at /feed are built in, and Settings take your Google Analytics ID. Shared links show the right title, summary and picture on Facebook and WhatsApp.

Readers also get category, tag, author, latest, popular, search, archive, country, video and photo gallery pages. Dates, digits and times are in Bangla, with the Bangla calendar and "x minutes ago" times, while the admin uses short English labels.

Because the full laravel newspaper script source is included, a developer can add new blocks, an API or another integration without touching the newsroom rules.

Install on cPanel in a few minutes

The zip holds the complete app with the vendor folder and built assets, so you need no terminal, Composer or Node. Create a database, upload and extract the zip in File Manager, set the domain's document root to the public folder and open the site.

The web installer checks the server, connects to MySQL, MariaDB or SQLite, asks for the Bangla and English site names and your admin account and takes the licence key. Then you install with or without demo content: sample stories, photos, videos, a poll and house ads, or a clean site with only categories and standard pages. The installer locks itself after use.

Settings

Logo, favicon, Bangla and English names, tagline, editor and publisher lines, address, phone, e-mail, footer note, ticker length, social links and homepage search fields are all in Admin, Settings.

Licence

One licence key works on one domain. Activate it during install or in Admin, License; remove it from the old domain to move. Local test addresses run without a key, and new versions are announced on the License page.
